Plain-English description
The first and fourth quarters are the Cecil coat of ten silver-and-blue bars over six black shields bearing silver lions, marked with a mullet because this is the younger Cecil line. The second and third quarters are the Amherst red shield with three gold spears tipped silver. The achievement unites the Cecil and Amherst inheritances through the marriage and special remainder.

Two herons proper collared Or as supporters; a peer's coronet may be used with the achievement. The supporters and motto are recorded with the barony's arms.
Difference / variant
A distinct Cecil cadet achievement created by the 1892 Amherst of Hackney peerage. The Cecil quarters are not the undifferenced Exeter coat: they carry a mullet for difference. The Amherst quarters and the special-remainder succession distinguish this branch from both the senior Exeter and Salisbury Cecil lines.

Notes / sources

This is the principal new armorial record for the requested subject. It should not be collapsed into the already-covered Cecil of Exeter or Salisbury records: the mullet-differenced Cecil quarters, Amherst quarters, special remainder and heritable baronial supporters form a distinct branch achievement.
