Quarterly, 1st and 4th, Argent, on a pale Sable a demi-lucy erect couped Or, for Gascoyne; 2nd and 3rd, Argent, a pheon Sable, on a chief of the second a lion passant of the first, for Bamber. An escutcheon of pretence, Gules, six fleurs-de-lys, 3, 2 and 1, Argent, for the assumed arms of Greene or Ireland.
Plain-English description
The shield combines the Gascoyne arms in the first and fourth quarters with the Bamber arms in the second and third. The Bamber quarters are therefore visibly preserved as a maternal or heiress-derived connection through Mary Greene's marriage to Bamber Gascoyne. A small central shield represents the assumed Greene or Ireland arms attributed to Mary Greene's paternal inheritance.
Tinctures
Argent; Sable; Or; Gules
Charges / ordinaries
pale; demi-lucy; pheon; lion passant; fleurs-de-lys
Exterior ornaments
The Childwall memorial was recorded beneath an esquire's helm with mantling Gules doubled Argent and a motto ribbon bearing RAISON POUR GUIDE.
Difference / variant
This is a distinct Childwall memorial wording of the Gascoyne arms: demi-lucy erect couped rather than the conger's-head wording used in later or alternative records. The Bamber quarters are explicitly identified as Argent, a pheon Sable, on a chief Sable a lion passant Argent.

Notes / sources

The memorial survey is particularly valuable because it preserves the otherwise easily missed Bamber quarter. It also shows that the Childwall evidence uses a demi-lucy formulation for Gascoyne, which should be retained as a historic textual variant rather than silently normalised.
