- Plain-English description
- Edward used the Exeter Cecil shield without a crescent or other visible cadency mark: ten alternating silver and blue bars crossed by six black shields, each bearing a silver rampant lion. Above it was a gold wheat-sheaf supported by one silver and one blue lion on a red-and-ermine cap.

- Charges / ordinaries
- Six escutcheons Sable; Six lions rampant Argent; Garb Or; Two supporting lions Argent and Azure
- Crest
- On a chapeau Gules turned up Ermine, a garb Or supported by two lions, the dexter Argent and the sinister Azure.
- Motto
- COR UNUM VIA UNA.
- Exterior ornaments
- As a viscount and baron, Edward could use the appropriate peerage coronet and helmet in a full achievement. The Surrey record does not establish a unique set of personal supporters for him; the securely recorded distinctive elements are the undifferenced shield, garb crest and motto.
- Difference / variant
- A territorial and title-bearing cadet branch of the Exeter Cecils, but not a separately differenced shield. Edward's branch is armorially same-design in the field, distinguished genealogically and territorially by Wimbledon and Putney and by his short-lived peerage.

Notes / sources
This finding should update, rather than duplicate, the existing Wimbledon record by adding the Surrey county armorial as a useful independent confirmation. No evidence has been located for a separate personal cadency mark on Edward's shield. The branch is best classified as cadet genealogically and territorially, but same-design in the field.
