Biography
Gilbert de Stapleton was the second son of Sir Miles Stapleton and husband of Agnes FitzAlan, daughter and co-heir of Brian FitzAlan of Bedale. Through this marriage he became associated with the Stapleton moiety of the Bedale estate.
