Walter Acton, Esquire, chief lord of relevant soil in the Manor of Acton Round

Dates: 1572–1641

Biography

A Shropshire landowner of the Acton family of Aldenham, JP and later High Sheriff of Shropshire. He is directly documented as chief lord of specified commons and waste belonging to Acton Round in 1625 and as lord of the manor in a related 1638–39 tenure.

Notes / Sources

The 1625 wording concerns chief lordship of the soil of specified commons and waste; the 1638–39 evidence more explicitly uses the formula 'as of his manor of Acton Round'.
