Sir Roger Twysden, 2nd Baronet of Roydon Hall, historian and politician
Dates: 1597-1672
Biography
Sir Roger Twysden of Roydon Hall, East Peckham, was an English historian and politician. Hasted identifies the manor of Albans as having been acquired by Roger Twysden in 1589 and later descending in his family.
Notes / Sources
The 1589 purchaser is styled Roger Twysden esquire in Hasted's account; the later baronet Sir Roger Twysden was born in 1597, so the exact identity of the 1589 purchaser should not be conflated with the later baronet without further documentary confirmation.
