Biography
John Neville was a major fourteenth-century member of the Neville house of Raby. By his first wife, Maud Percy, he was father of Ralph Neville, later 1st Earl of Westmorland. By his second wife, Elizabeth Latimer, daughter and heiress of William Latimer, 4th Baron Latimer, he was father of John Neville, 6th Baron Latimer, and Elizabeth Neville. Through Ralph, John was grandfather of George Neville, founder of the later Neville Latimer branch; through Elizabeth Latimer, he was also the immediate family link by which the Latimer estates entered the Neville succession.
