Edward Wortley Montagu, English landowner and Member of Parliament, husband of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu
Dates: 1678-1761
Biography
Edward Wortley Montagu was a wealthy English landowner and politician who acquired the Wensleydale or Abbotside estate in 1723.
Notes / Sources
He died in 1761, but the consulted manor account states that the relevant estates were left to his daughter Mary for life after his death in 1755; the date discrepancy is preserved in the sources rather than resolved here.
