English courtier, political correspondent and intelligencer. He spent much of his adult life abroad and later worked within the political circle of Robert Devereux, second Earl of Essex. He inherited the Barley manors but experienced financial difficulties and attempted to sell the estate in 1593.

The source identifies him as the holder of Abbotsbury as part of the three-manor Barley estate.
