GPS Location & Recorded Land Areas

Representative GPS point: 52.7969, 1.2511

Location / boundary notes:

Identity: confirmed — The National Archives Manorial Documents Register record F239009 identifies Aylsham Vicarage Manor in Aylsham, Norfolk. Independent local-history evidence describes it as the vicar's small ecclesiastical manor, distinct from Aylsham Lancaster, Sexton's and Bolwick manors. Its recorded properties were dispersed widely around Aylsham parish, so it should not be equated with the modern parish boundary.
Representative point: 52.7969, 1.2511
Basis: documented_manor_site — The Old Vicarage on Cromer Road is a documented historic vicarage in Aylsham, listed by Historic England at NGR TG 19276 27105. As the manor was the vicar's ecclesiastical manor and no separate manor-house site has been identified, this is the best defensible representative location.
Point confidence: medium
Boundary status: representative_point_only
Boundary period: medieval to nineteenth century
Boundary confidence: none
Boundary basis: Available evidence establishes a small vicarial manor with holdings spread widely around Aylsham parish, including land on the opposite side of the River Bure, but does not provide a sufficiently explicit manor map, parcel schedule, or documented perimeter from which a historical polygon can be reconstructed. The Aylsham parish boundary and modern administrative boundaries are therefore not substituted.

Warnings / uncertainty:
- The representative point is an evidence-based proxy for the historic vicarage/manorial centre, not a proven surviving manor-house location.
- No historically grounded perimeter polygon was found; the manor's dispersed holdings should not be represented by the modern Aylsham parish boundary.
